Summary

Given that Jabra is a well-known brand, we weren't surprised that their hearing aids won't disappoint us although it did have some additional features that made us more impressed. It does the job in improving sound quality and it performed really well. The 15-hour battery life for the Enhance Select series is a little short but you can quickly get more juice with the charging case. So if you’re in search of a hearing aid that offers superb sound quality but won’t cost you a fortune, then this medical-grade enhancing solution is what you need.

What We Like

We actually liked a lot of things about the Jabra Enhance and these are worth mentioning:

Improved hearing: One of the key advantages of this device is its ability to enhance hearing and make it simpler to comprehend speech and other sounds.

Dedicated smartphone app: The device can be quickly paired with an iPhone via Bluetooth and its features can be further customized and utilized via the Jabra Enhance app.

Cost: Their devices are notably a lot more affordable as compared to regular hearing aids that are priced around $2,000 to $3,000. You’d still get to enjoy premium quality for less than a fraction of the cost.

Longer battery life with the charging case: For the Enhance 100 and 200 models, you can use the device for around 30 hours with the help of the charging case which also has a built-in rechargeable battery.

USB type C connector: It's good to know that even hearing aid chargers like this one are already using the type C connectors. That makes it less difficult to find a compatible cable in case you lose the original one.

What We Don't Like

On the other hand, there are also a few things that we didn't like about this hearing aid as per our tests:

Average battery life on 1 full charge: With a single full charge on the device, you can only use the rechargeable models for a maximum of 15 hours.

Limited effectiveness for some users: While these hearing aids are designed for people with mild to severe hearing loss, it may not be able to completely restore normal hearing for certain users.

Controls

These hearing aids have a unique design that allows for multiple functions to be performed with the multi-function buttons on both earbuds. This allows for a more streamlined and efficient use of the device.

Here's how it works:

  • The left earbud has a button that can be pressed once to lower the volume and twice to mute the microphone.
  • The right earbud button can be pressed once to increase the volume and also answer or disconnect an incoming call. A double press on the button can be used to reject a call.

Take note that it does not come with a separate remote control, making the physical buttons on the device the only way to control it. Therefore, it is crucial to ensure the protection of these buttons to maintain the functionality of the hearing aid. Keeping the buttons in good condition will ensure that you can easily adjust the settings and use all the features of the device.

Sound Quality

Keep in mind that the sound quality of the hearing aids will still depend on a number of factors, including the severity of your hearing loss, and the listening environment. In general, the Jabra Enhance Select hearing aids were able to provide high-quality sounds and are capable of amplifying sound waves accurately and effectively based on the tests that we did.

Since the device is equipped with noise reduction technology, it really helped in improving the sound quality by reducing background noise and focusing on specific sounds. If you constantly hear a ringing noise in your ears, then the device’s tinnitus masking can be a very useful feature. It uses external sounds or noise to effectively cover up and reduce the perception of tinnitus just like the Jabra Enhance Pro and its predecessor, the Jabra Enhance Plus.

It’s important to remember:

Hearing aids may not be able to completely restore your normal hearing and may not be effective for all types of hearing loss. It is also important for you to properly care for and maintain their hearing aid to ensure that it is providing the best possible sound quality and is still functioning properly.

Battery Life

Take note that the Enhance Select 50 model uses disposable batteries while the Enhance Select 100 and 200 models are rechargeable. For the 100 and 200, the package has an included charging case, which is relatively small so it's very easy to carry it anywhere since it's not even bulky and heavy. We're also thrilled to discover that their hearing aid charger now uses a type C port.

Why is this important?

This means that you no longer have to carry around a separate charger for this device since you can now charge them with the same cable they you're using for your phone and other devices.

In addition, the type C port is also known for its fast charging capabilities, which means less time waiting for the device to charge and more time using them.

Your hearing aid's battery life will greatly depend on your usage of the device and other factors but in general, the Enhance Select 50, a disposable battery can last from 3 to 10 days, depending on your usage.

We've conducted several tests to see how long it will last and we found that the rechargeable ones averaged 14+ hours on a full charge and around 29 hours with the charger case.

In comparison...

The 15-hour battery life for a single charge is a little shorter as compared to lesser known brands like Audious but if we compare the 30-hour battery life with the charging case, that definitely makes the Jabra Enhance Select a lot more superior than its competitors.

Hearing Aid 1 Full Charge With Charging Case
Jabra Enhance Select 100 and 200 Up to 15 hours Up to 30 hours
Horizon AX by Hear.com Up to 28 hours N/A
Audicus Wave Up to 18 hours N/A
Audien Atom Pro Up to 24 hours Up to 4 days
Eargo Neo HiFi Up to 16 hours Up to 7 days
MD Hearing VOLT Up to 20 hours N/A
Audious Rechargeable & Invisible Hearing Aid Up to 2 days N/A

It's important to remember: The battery life of your device will depend on various factors such as usage, volume level, and other settings. If you're using it for phone calls and streaming music, you'll likely see shorter battery life compared to using it just for phone call so it's a good idea to monitor your usage and adjust the settings accordingly to ensure that you're getting the most out of your earbuds.

With the app, you can customize the sound of your earbuds, access features and settings, such as adjusting the equalizer, customizing touch controls, updating the earbuds' firmware, and more. Additionally, you can switch between Adaptive, Focus, and Surround Listen modes via the app. However, it's important to note that the app is not currently supported on Android smartphones.

Customer Service

We can’t emphasize enough…

It is highly important that you have access to good customer service when you’re going to use a hearing aid, as these devices are a significant investment and may eventually require maintenance and support depending on your usage and wear and tear.

First thing's first…

The Jabra website has a comprehensive support page about their hearing aids so it’s worth checking it out before you decide to contact their customer service department.

  • Twitter: Their official Twitter handle @jabrasupport can be contacted via DM.

So how was it?

Overall, Jabra's customer service was moderately good. The app-based support was user-friendly and easy to navigate, but email responses were not as prompt as we hoped. Phone support, however, was readily available and the agents were friendly. Contacting them through their Twitter account also yielded prompt responses. While the customer service was overall impressive, there is room for improvement in terms of faster electronic replies.

Price

If you're wondering about the Jabra Enhance price, then you'll probably be surprised that the cost ranges from $1195 to $1995. Now this is a lot more affordable if you compare it with the average range which can be from around $2,000 to $3,000 for a pair of an adult hearing aid.

Alternatives

It's important to note that there are many other hearing aid brands on the market, each offering a range of features and technologies to meet the unique needs of hearing aid users so if the Jabra Enhance availability is limited or not available at all, then it would be wise to consider these alternatives.

These brands offer a variety of options, including hearing aid styles, levels of technology, and different price points. Most of these alternative hearing aid brands offer not just high-quality devices, but also excellent customer service and this makes them a viable option if you’re searching for an alternative to more well-known brands.
