Summary

The Oticon More was able to deliver natural sound quality even in challenging conditions. And with its 24-hour battery life, you won't need to recharge the device several times. The only downside is that it's a little pricier than other hearing aids out there but its exceptional performance and additional features provide great value and can definitely justify the cost.

What We Like

There were a number of things that we liked from this Oticon product model and we listed them below:

Excellent audio quality: The device was able to further amplify the sounds and the quality was greatly improved.

Eight colors available: There are 8 color options to choose from, allowing you to select the one that best suits your personal preferences or skin tone..

Bluetooth connectivity: Via Bluetooth wireless connection, it's possible to pair this device with other compatible mobile devices.

Available in rechargeable and battery-powered: You have the choice of selecting the type of battery to use for the device.

Long battery life: There's no need to recharge it often because the device can last for 24 hours with just a single charge.

What We Don't Like

In testing, we also found a few disadvantages from this device which you should be aware of:

Cannot be completely hidden: Since this lineup is a behind-the-ear (BTE) type, it's not possible to fully hide them in your ear.

Higher price tag: It costs around $3000, which is a tad higher than the price of other hearing aids in the market.

No live chat support: Their support team can only be contacted via phone or email.

Might not work for some users: Despite its intelligent and sophisticated functions, it may not be able to fully restore natural hearing for some users.

About Oticon

Oticon is a Danish hearing aid manufacturer that was founded in 1904 by Hans Demant and is headquartered in Smørum, Denmark. The company is part of the William Demant Holding Group, one of the largest hearing healthcare companies in the world. They are known for the advanced technology that they use for their hearing aids, including the BrainHearing approach, which focuses on supporting the brain's natural process of hearing.

Design

We were particularly impressed by this hearing aid model because it offers a range of 8 colors to choose from:

  • Silver
  • Silver Grey
  • Steel Grey
  • Diamond Black
  • Chestnut Brown
  • Terracotta
  • Chroma Beige
  • Hear Pink

With this level of variety, you have the freedom to select a color that perfectly aligns with your personal preferences and style.

Hearing Aid Colors
Oticon More Silver, Silver Grey, Steel Grey, Diamond Black, Chestnut Brown, Terracotta, Chroma Beige, Hear Pink
Jabra Enhance Plus Beige Gold, Dark Grey
Horizon AX by Hear.com Beige, Black, Silver, Sandy Brown
Audicus Wave Beige, Black, Grey, Silver
Audien Atom Pro Beige
Eargo Neo HiFi Black
MDHearing VOLT Beige
Nano CIC Recharge Hearing Aids Blue (Left Ear) and Red (Right Ear)
Bossa TX-5 Mini Beige
Onebridge Pro Beige
Audious Rechargeable & Invisible Hearing Aid Blue (Left Ear) and Red (Right Ear)

The downside?

As this is a behind-the-ear (BTE) hearing aid, it may not be completely hidden from view. However, by choosing a color that complements your skin tone, it can be discreetly worn without drawing undue attention. Despite not being fully concealed, the BTE style offers other advantages, such as being more comfortable and easier to handle.

Controls

The device has 2 push buttons which can be used for a number of functions. Pressing on the upper button can be used for turning the volume up or changing programs, while the lower part can be used for turning the device on or off, setting it in flight mode, turning down the volume or changing programs as well.

Sound Quality

Before we begin...

It is important to recognize that the sound quality of a hearing aid may be influenced by several factors and the primary ones are the degree of your hearing loss and your surrounding environment. After conducting numerous tests, we found that this hearing aid was able to effectively filter out the noise and greatly improve the clarity of sounds and speech in most conditions.

So how does it work? The hearing aid uses a new technology called Deep Neural Network (DNN), which operates much like the human brain in that it learns through experience. Basically, it provides the brain access to the complete sound environment and facilitates more effective processing of auditory information.

Battery Life

Here's the deal:

You get to choose between a rechargeable lithium-ion battery option or a single-use battery option when purchasing this hearing aid model. This allows you to pick the power source that best suits your needs and preferences.

The rechargeable type comes with a charging case that already uses a type C port so it's good to know that they've already adapted this standard port rather than older micro USB. It would have been better though if the charging case had rechargeable batteries as well so we can get more juice for the device.

If you charge it for just half an hour, you'll already get 25% of power. Leaving it in the case for an hour will give it around 50% charge, while a full charge will require around 3 hours.

In terms of battery performance, the rechargeable version can last for up to 24 hours on a single charge as per Oticon's claim. We did an extensive testing for over a week and found that the device can be used for approximately 23 hours. This means you can use it for extended periods without the need for frequent recharging.

In comparison...

Compared to its competitors, the Oticon More's battery life is significantly longer than other popular models. For example, the Jabra Enhance Plus only offers a maximum battery life of 12 hours, while the Eargo Neo HiFi can last for up to 16 hours.

Note: The comparison between the Oticon More and other hearing aids is based solely on the battery life of a single full charge. It's important to note that this does not take into account any additional battery life that may be obtained from charging cases that have their own rechargeable batteries. It's worth noting that the Oticon More's charging case is a basic charger and does not have this feature.
